The number of checks circulated in Jordan during the past months of January and February of this year reached 1.1 million checks, with a value of 6.5 billion Jordanian dinars, according to what was monitored by the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Systems Company (JoPACC).
According to statistics collected by Jobak, the number of returned checks in Jordan decreased by 3.5% during February, compared to the previous month, as it reached 18 thousand checks last month, compared to 18.7 thousand checks in January.
The value of returned checks for February of the current year amounted to 125 million dinars, compared to 143 million dinars in January of the same year, a decrease of 12.6%.
The statistics added that 12,366 returned checks worth 87.4 million Jordanian dinars in February were for financial reasons, while more than 5.6 thousand checks worth 37.5 million dinars were for technical reasons, as the percentage of checks returned for financial reasons reached 69.9% compared to 30.1% for technical reasons.
During last February, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 523 thousand checks, compared to 537 thousand checks in the previous January, a decrease of 2.7%.
The value of checks traded during the month of February amounted to 3.25 billion Jordanian dinars, compared to 3.35 billion dinars in January of the same year, a decrease of 2.8%.
