Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi, on Friday renewed his call to stop arms exports to Israel and force it to stop the disaster it is causing in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Safadi wrote on his account on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), “UN agencies tell terrifying stories about the suffering in Gaza,” where “more than 30,000 were killed. More than two million people face famine. These facts are a shame to the world.”
He continued: 'We must stop the export of weapons to Israel and force it to stop this catastrophe, which is a requirement based on international law and humanitarian values.'
On Thursday, the judges of the International Court of Justice unanimously ordered Israel, which South Africa accuses of committing genocide in Gaza, to take all necessary and effective measures to ensure the entry of basic food supplies to the Palestinian population in the Palestinian Strip and to stop the spread of famine.
Al-Safadi commented on the decision by saying: “The International Court of Justice speaks again. The Israeli catastrophe in Gaza must end. All residents of Gaza are starving because of Israel’s failure to open the land crossings in defiance of the whole world.”
