Jordanian journalist Jomana Karadsheh was honored with a prestigious Gracie Award by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation in a ceremony in Beverly Hills California.
Karadsheh, a CNN international correspondent based in London received the Reporter/ Correspondent Gracie -US National TV media - for her work in 2023.
Throughout 2023, CNN’s Jomana Karadsheh brought viewers powerful reporting from around the world on some of the toughest and most challenging stories of the year, including the Turkey-Syria earthquake and the Israel-Hamas War.
Jomana delivered some of CNN’s most compelling reports on the Iranian protests and her continued dispatches showcased the resilience of the women of Iran and their struggle for freedom and equal rights. When the Nobel Committee announced that it had awarded the 2023 Peace Prize to Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, CNN was ready with an exclusive from Jomana, who interviewed this fearless imprisoned activist by letter and voice messages from inside the notorious Evin Prison.
In September, Jomana became one of the first and few international journalists on the ground following the devastating flooding in Derna. With her deep knowledge of the divided country where she was based for years, Jomana’s heartbreaking and live reports put a human face on one of the worst tragedies in Libya’s history.
The Gracie Awards recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. They also acknowledge the individuals who have made inspirational contributions to the industry.
