Holding Airports announced the arrival of more than 1.1 million pilgrims by air through the Kingdom’s airports designated for receiving pilgrims to perform the Hajj rituals for the year 1445 AH.
Holding Airports was keen to provide all services and facilities to welcome the guests of the Merciful and accommodate the peak of their influx through a comprehensive operational plan of services, in active partnership with more than 27 governmental, security, and operational entities, and with a human cadre of more than 21,000 male and female employees distributed across all major airports; to provide a facilitated travel experience for the guests of the Merciful.
Additionally, 13 travel halls spread across 6 major airports were prepared to receive the guests of the Merciful. The main airports include: King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, Prince Abdul Muhssin bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Yanbu, Taif International Airport, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. A comprehensive operational plan was also prepared to accommodate the number of pilgrims, with more than 1.4 million pilgrims expected to arrive by air from outside the Kingdom via 106 air carriers. It is also expected that the total air traffic during the Hajj season for international travelers (arrival and departure) at the 6 airports will exceed 15 million passengers.
To facilitate travel procedures through the Kingdom’s airports, Holding Airports launched the “Passenger Without Luggage” service, which allows the traveler to complete their travel procedures from their place of residence and ship their luggage 24 hours before their flight, after a notable success in the Hajj of the year 1444 AH, at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina, where more than 680,000 pilgrims from the guests of the Merciful benefited from it.
This year, during the peak Umrah period of the blessed month of Ramadan 1445 AH, Saudi airports recorded record numbers in terms of the number of travelers, which exceeded 12.5 million passengers across various airports, in addition to an increase in the number of flights to more than 86,000 flights across 100 air carriers, with a growth rate of 13% compared to the year 1444 AH.
It is worth mentioning that Holding Airports oversees the operation of 27 airports in Saudi Arabia through its subsidiaries (Riyadh Airports, Jeddah Airports, Dammam Airports, and the Second Airports Cluster), which aim to develop the Kingdom’s airports and enhance their performance to keep pace with the rapid development currently witnessed in the Kingdom, and to support the journey of sustainable development to achieve more growth and accomplishments in accordance with the National Aviation Strategy, which stems from the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, as one of the targets of Saudi Vision 2030.
