The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced on Thursday the issuance of 68 burial permits for Jordanian pilgrims to be buried in Mecca according to their families' wishes.
The ministry mentioned that the relevant Saudi authorities have begun the burial procedures for the deceased pilgrims, including washing, shrouding, praying over, and then burying the bodies.
The ministry highlighted its continuous efforts in overseeing the burial procedures for Jordanian pilgrims who passed away while performing Hajj, as well as in searching for missing Jordanian pilgrims who were outside the official Jordanian Hajj delegation and not following the approved Saudi routes.
Out of the 107 Jordanian pilgrims reported missing, 91 have been found according to the database maintained by the ministry since the reports of missing and deceased pilgrims began.
The ministry also reported that 22 Jordanian pilgrims are currently hospitalized in Saudi hospitals, with seven in critical condition. Arrangements are being made to transfer them for treatment in Saudi Arabia as soon as their health permits. The Jordanian Consulate General team in Jeddah, currently in Mecca, visited all the patients on Thursday to check on their well-being.
