Israeli occupation authorities released the director of Al-Shifa Hospital, Mohammad Abu Salmiya, on Monday, according to a video on social media.
After his release, Abu Salmiya stated, 'The prison situation is tragic and very difficult. Prisoners are experiencing severe conditions, including shortages of food and water and physical abuse, unlike anything since the beginning of the occupation in 1948.'
He added, 'The prisoners are a responsibility for all of us, and the prisons must be emptied as soon as possible.'
He explained that the Israeli occupation targets and arrests everyone without exception, emphasizing that 'some medical staff have been martyred under torture inside the prisons.'
Abu Salmiya pointed out that the occupation forces have demonstrated their criminality by targeting medical and journalistic staff, women, and men, and by destroying everything in Gaza. He stated, 'But, God willing, we will rebuild Gaza from scratch and restore Al-Shifa Medical Complex.'
The Israeli occupation forces arrested Mohammad Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, along with several medical staff and injured individuals, during the first military operation at Al-Shifa Medical Complex on November 23, 2023.
