In the competitive media landscape of Arab festivals, the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts always stands out, celebrating its 38th edition this year. Unfortunately, the media only looks at star performances and audience size, leading people to view Jerash similarly to Mawazine, Carthage, Riyadh Season, and Dubai concerts.
This year, Jerash distinguishes itself by excluding concerts of popular singers after the festival management closed the Southern Theater. This might be a blessing in disguise, as the tragedy of the people of Gaza brings a shift in focus to the cultural, folkloric, intellectual, and artistic programs presented across the remaining six stages.
So, Jerash remains a festival of festivals, distinct from others that only offer concerts. Jerash caters to all tastes, carrying Jordan's message of enlightenment, civilization, and deep-rooted traditions to the world.
For a long time, we have urged Arab media to pay attention to the other activities of Jerash, not just the concerts at the Southern Theater. This year, Jerash has the opportunity to compete with other festivals with its cultural, intellectual, and folkloric program, standing out as a family-oriented festival, unlike others that focus solely on concerts where every Arab singer dreams of performing.
As the new edition of the festival approaches, we celebrate the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s accession to the throne and express solidarity with our people in Gaza, reaffirming the festival's slogan: 'The promise continues.'
