Amman - The Jordan Football Association (JFA) has confirmed its proposal to relegate four teams from the Jordanian Pro League to the First Division in the upcoming football season, as shown by the tournament regulations published on the association's website.
During a meeting with the Pro League clubs in May, the JFA proposed reducing the number of competing teams in the league to 10 instead of 12 and increasing the number of matches played during the season. Although the clubs initially rejected the proposal, the JFA insisted on it, leading the clubs to eventually accept it.
The JFA claims that its proposal will increase the number of matches, with each team playing 27 matches instead of 22 under the current format.
##Champion's Prize Confirmed Starting next season, four teams will be relegated from the Pro League to the First Division, while two teams will be promoted, according to the regulations. The JFA has also confirmed that the Pro League champion will receive a prize of 60,000 dinars, with the runner-up receiving 30,000 dinars, and the third-place team 15,000 dinars.
The Pro League competition is scheduled to start on August 8. On Tuesday evening, the draw for the 72nd edition of the Pro League and the 37th edition of the Shield of the Union for the 2024/2025 season will take place, as announced by the JFA last week.
The First Division competition will also feature a new format. Fourteen teams from this division will compete alongside several under-23 teams from Pro League clubs 'under special instructions.' The tournament will be held in a split-league format over a single stage, with four teams being relegated to the Second Division.
The winner of this competition will receive 10,000 dinars, and the runner-up will receive 7,500 dinars, with both securing promotion to the Pro League.
