Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Amman University, alongside Sheikha Hayat Al Khalifa, member of the Executive Office of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees and President of the Bahraini Table Tennis Association, inaugurated the permanent headquarters of the “Jordanian Hearing Aids Laboratory” for hearing and speech at Amman University. The event was attended by Mr. Fadi Al-Sayegh, General Manager of the Jordanian Hearing Centre, and Mr. Farhan Al-Sayegh, Executive Director of the Centre.
Prominent attendees from the university included Professor Dr. Ghaleb Oraikat, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, along with his deputies, heads of departments of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Head of the Hearing and Speech Department, and Dr. Fadi Al-Swaiti, Director of the University’s Hearing and Speech Centre, as well as members of the academic and administrative staff in the department and several undergraduate and graduate students in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
It is noteworthy that the new lab provides advanced training for students in the prescription and programming of medical hearing aids. It is considered one of the leading centres in Jordan and the region, collaborating with the Danish company GN and its subsidiaries, including Beltone, Resound, and Intertone.
Additionally, the university recently signed an official cooperation agreement with the Jordanian Hearing Centre to establish joint clinical, laboratory, and research frameworks, further enhancing the university’s efforts to provide top-level clinical training to its students.
Amman University thus becomes the first university in the region to offer this type of specialised training.
