The Lower House Palestine Committee, headed by MP Fayez Basbous, on Sunday deplored Israeli incursions, attacks and violations in Jerusalem and Palestinian cities, which ignite 'dangerous' escalation and threaten security and stability.
During its meeting on Sunday, the committee renewed its 'firm' support for Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem's Al-Quds Al-Sharif, affirming Palestinian people's rights to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Basbous said region will not witness stability, unless a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause is achieved.
The MP also noted Israeli government is the 'most hard-line' in the occupation's history and hostile to Jordan for its positions towards the Palestinian cause.
Noting the committee's rejection of any attempts to tamper with Jerusalem's historical status quo, he referred to its political, diplomatic and legal efforts to support Jordan's position.
Meanwhile, the committee's members stressed importance of supporting Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's sanctities, referring to His Majesty King Abdullah II's efforts to defend Palestinian cause, and Jerusalem and its holy sites, which are a priority in all his endeavors. petra
