The Income and Sales Tax Department has directed cigarette-producing companies to fully comply with the provisions of Regulation No. 62 of 2024, which amends the Special Tax System. This regulation mandates an increase of 100 fils per pack of cigarettes.
The department also requested these companies to inform their distribution partners and agencies not to exceed this increase of 100 fils per pack of cigarettes.
It is noted that the minimum price for a pack of cigarettes is 1700 fils.
