AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the unanimous adoption of a decision concerning the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls by UNESCO's Executive Board during its 220th session on Wednesday.
Ministry spokesperson, Ambassador Sufian Qudah, explained that the decision calls on Israel, as the occupying power, to halt all illegal and unilateral measures aimed at altering the historic and legal status quo of Jerusalem and its holy sites, deeming such actions null and void.
Ambassador Qudah emphasized that this decision reaffirms Jordan’s consistent position on the Old City of Jerusalem and its walls, including Islamic and Christian holy sites, and reiterates the content of previous resolutions issued by the Executive Board and the World Heritage Committee regarding Jerusalem.
