MP Mohammad Bustanji has emphasised the significance of the government’s recent decisions to grant additional incentives to new industrial projects in Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah Development Area in Karak. He stated that these measures represent practical support for productivity, enhance local community empowerment, and contribute to economic and social sustainability.
In a press release, Bustanji expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s responsiveness to demands raised during a recent visit to Karak, highlighting that these incentives will reduce financial burdens on projects, improve their competitiveness, and enable the creation of sustainable job opportunities.
“These incentives reflect a commitment to fostering productive investments with long-term impacts,” Bustanji noted, adding that Karak, like other governorates, requires practical measures to achieve sustainable development and respond to the economic and social empowerment needs of its residents.
He also underscored the importance of the conditions accompanying these incentives, such as ensuring a minimum 40% local value-added component and employing at least 70% of the workforce from within the governorate. Such requirements, he argued, reinforce the role of local communities and encourage reliance on national resources.
The incentives, which include staggered reductions in electricity and water bills over ten years, a five-year exemption from sales tax on production, and extended labour subsidies, aim to attract high-value investments. Projects must meet a minimum investment threshold of JD 15 million to qualify, ensuring the development of high-quality ventures that strengthen local productivity and economic sustainability.
“These measures form a robust foundation for supporting projects and achieving national development goals,” Bustanji concluded.
