The faculties of 'Allied Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, and Engineering' at Amman Al-Ahliyah University participated in a workshop organized by the Higher Education Accreditation Commission under the title 'Quality Evaluator for Higher Education Institutions.' The university's participation included Dr. Zeina Mahdi Al-Alami from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Feras Al-Naimat from the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Mohammad Yaseen from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Saad Bani Mohammad, Vice President of the Commission, representing the Chairman of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission. He welcomed the participants and discussed the Commission's role in evaluating quality at Jordanian higher education institutions. Dr. Bani Mohammad explained that the goal of such workshops is to prepare participants to become quality evaluators at both institutional and programmatic levels, in addition to promoting a culture of quality in academic institutions, striving for excellence, and global competitiveness. He emphasized the importance of increasing the number of accredited evaluators within the Commission.
The workshop included a presentation on the Commission’s experience in evaluating quality assurance standards, the working mechanisms of expert committees, and the writing of evaluation reports. Practical applications aimed at improving performance in quality assurance were also discussed. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Amal Al-Tarawneh, an expert in quality assurance and excellence, alongside Ms. Suham Abu Taleb and Ms. Suad Al-Najjar.
The workshop lasted for two days, and participants received a 'Quality Evaluator for Higher Education Institutions' certificate from the Accreditation Commission upon completion.
In a separate event, the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences participated in the 2024 International Conference on Medical Analysis and Health Research (ICMLH 2024), organized by Zarqa University, held from November 20 to 22, 2024. Dr. Walhan Al-Shaer from the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences delivered a lecture titled “Aptamers and siRNA Therapy Against Cancer,” discussing promising applications of aptamers and small interfering RNA therapies in cancer treatment.
Additionally, lecturer Hamza Al-Amir from the Department of Biotechnology gave a presentation titled “Targeting Cancer Cell Proliferation Using Small Interfering RNAs (siRNAs) to Silence Upregulated Genes in Cancer Cells and Enhance Chemotherapeutic Drugs.” This lecture generated interest and sparked discussions and opportunities for scientific collaboration.
The conference also saw active participation from several students of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences across different specializations, aiming to enhance scientific communication and develop students' research skills.
