Amman – Amman Ahliyya University has achieved a prestigious academic milestone, ranking in the 101–200 tier globally out of 2,318 participating universities in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. The ranking evaluates universities worldwide on their commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), based on detailed comparisons across indicators such as education, health, equality, environment, governance, and partnerships.
The university stood out with exceptional results in several SDGs, notably:
Goal 4: Quality Education – ranked 5th globally, reflecting the high calibre of its academic programmes and comprehensive learning approach.
Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities – 17th globally, affirming its dedication to social justice and inclusive access to education.
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – 51st globally, thanks to pioneering community initiatives and health programmes.
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – 37th globally, highlighting sustainable resource management policies.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – 38th globally, a result of water efficiency and sanitation projects.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – 61st globally, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and effective governance.
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – placed within the 101–200 range globally, underlining its active local and international collaborations for sustainable development.
In recognition of this notable progress, Amman Ahliyya University was selected to represent Arab universities and present its model for achieving the SDGs at the Global Sustainable Development Conference in Turkey. The event served as a global platform to showcase the university’s pioneering educational, environmental, and social initiatives, with participation from academic institutions and international organisations worldwide.
Commenting on the achievement, University President Prof. Sari Hamdan stated: “We are proud of this milestone, which adds to the university’s track record of excellence and reflects our deep commitment to supporting sustainable development locally and globally through education, research, and community service. This ranking embodies the collective efforts of all our faculties and units toward true institutional excellence.”
Chairman of the Board Dr. Mahir Hourani added: “The Times Impact Rankings are global recognition of Amman Ahliyya’s strategic direction.
