Arab and international reactions mounted Tuesday after Israel targeted residential compounds housing members of Hamas’s political bureau in Doha.
In a statement, the Israeli military said its forces and Shin Bet carried out the strike using the air force against Hamas’s senior leadership.
Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi strongly condemned what he called Israel’s “cowardly aggression” against Qatar, describing it as a flagrant breach of international law and a serious threat to the security of the Qatari people and residents. He said the attack reflected Israel’s “brutal aggressiveness” that endangers regional peace and stability.
Writing on X, Safadi said: “Our security is one, we stand with our brothers in Qatar and fully support any steps they take to defend their security, stability and sovereignty.”
He warned Israel would continue its wars and violations unless the international community, especially the UN Security Council, took action to restrain it.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fouad Majali urged the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, force Israel to halt its escalation and repeated attacks on Arab countries, and ensure compliance with international and humanitarian law as well as UN resolutions.
