Under Royal directives, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army, on Thursday dispatched a Jordanian aid convoy carrying food supplies to Syria.
Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said the 14-truck Jordanian convoy was accompanied by a Qatari convoy of 27 trucks loaded with food and medical supplies, as part of a joint Jordanian-Qatari and wider Arab effort to support Syria amid the humanitarian crisis in Sweida.
He noted that coordination was made with the Syrian government to deliver the aid through the Jaber-Nassib border crossing, before being transferred by the Syrian Red Crescent for distribution in Sweida city, western Sweida, and shelters in Daraa and Rural Damascus.
Shibli stressed that the convoys respond to urgent humanitarian needs in Sweida and nearby areas, while praising Syrian government cooperation in facilitating access to affected regions and improving humanitarian conditions.
