The New York Times said that protection applies to about six thousand Palestinians under a law that allows immigrants to remain in the United States if their homelands are suffering from crises. Biden’s decree stated that after October 7, “humanitarian conditions there and in other Palestinian territories have deteriorated significantly, and while I continue to focus on improving the humanitarian situation, many civilians remain in danger,” adding, “Therefore, I direct the postponement of the deportation of a number of civilians.” Palestinians in the United States until further notice.”
