US President Joe Biden granted legal protection to Palestinians in the United States from deportation for a period of 18 months, according to what the White House announced on Wednesday evening, while Biden faces intense anger due to his support for the Israeli attack on Gaza in the election year, according to the Washington Times.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said Biden signed a decree prohibiting the deportation of Palestinians “in light of the ongoing conflict and humanitarian needs” in the Gaza Strip.

The New York Times said that protection applies to about six thousand Palestinians under a law that allows immigrants to remain in the United States if their homelands are suffering from crises.
Biden’s decree stated that after October 7, “humanitarian conditions there and in other Palestinian territories have deteriorated significantly, and while I continue to focus on improving the humanitarian situation, many civilians remain in danger,” adding, “Therefore, I direct the postponement of the deportation of a number of civilians.” Palestinians in the United States until further notice.”
