Petra saw a sharp rise in visitors in October 2025, recording 81,046 guests — up 71% from the same month last year, according to the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority.

Foreign visitors totalled 49,910, marking a 99% increase year-on-year, driven by improving regional stability following the end of the Gaza war, which restored confidence in regional and global tourism markets.

The report said foreign tourists made up 62% of total visitors, while Jordanians and participants in the “Urdunna Jannah” programme reached 16,795, Arab visitors 3,158, students 2,446, and residents 1,406.

The data also showed an 82% rise in Arab visitors and a 19% increase in extended-stay tickets, reflecting growing interest in longer visits.

The highest daily turnout was on 24 October, with 4,957 visitors, compared to 2,966 on the busiest day in October 2024.

The United States topped the list of foreign visitors (6,726), followed by the UK (4,492), France (4,253), Russia (3,483), and Germany (2,944).

Petra Museum welcomed 16,925 visitors, and eco-friendly electric vehicles completed about 5,421 trips to major sites.

Authority chief commissioner Fares Breizat described the results as a “turning point” for Petra’s tourism recovery, noting that the surge has revitalised local sectors including hotels, guides, souvenir shops, and transport services.

He added that the authority is pursuing a strategic plan to improve infrastructure, service quality, and sustainability to accommodate future growth.
