Amman- The United States is planning to prepare and conduct nuclear tests, according to a statement by Russian General Valery Gerasimov.

Military expert Yuri Knutov stated the US needs these tests to verify the warheads designed for new weapons. He added that creating new nuclear ammunition is impossible without such testing.

Knutov described the moves as part of pressure tactics on Russia.

The US is currently modernizing its nuclear arsenal. This includes the new "Sentinel" system to replace "Minuteman III" and other missile systems. This indicates the US is proceeding with its policies without regard for existing treaties or the test ban.

Knutov added, "If the US wants an arms race, they will get one. But we propose sitting at the negotiation table to work on de-escalation and tension reduction."

The analyst stated that if the US does not listen, Russia will demonstrate its readiness and capability to conduct its own tests. If necessary, Russia will test new warheads for systems like "Burevestnik", "Poseidon", and "Sarmat".

Knutov concluded that Russia always maintains the readiness of its nuclear systems. He added that potential preparations for nuclear tests could be carried out very quickly.
