On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump urged his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to end the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for nearly four years, after Moscow resumed its attacks on Kyiv following a week-long pause due to extreme cold.

Responding to a question about the renewed strikes, Trump said, “I want him to end the war.”

When asked if he was disappointed that Putin did not extend the pause in attacks, Trump said he would have liked that, but noted that Putin “kept his promise” regarding the one-week halt in strikes, adding, “It’s a long time, as you know, one week—we’ll take anything, because the weather there is really very cold.”
