Jordan’s domestic tourism program, "Urdunnu Jannah," recorded 5,400 participants during its first week, signaling strong integration across the kingdom's tourism sectors.
The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities reported on Saturday that the week’s activities included 168 bus trips supported by 168 tour guides. The program engaged 43 travel agencies, 20 restaurants, and 30 hotels and tourist camps.
New destinations attracted notable interest, with Iraq al-Amir receiving 881 participants and Umm ar-Rasas drawing 400. Overnight stays in Petra reached 950 participants, while Wadi Rum and Aqaba attracted 400 and 371 visitors, respectively. An additional 100 participants utilized the program via direct booking with private vehicles.
The remaining participants visited various locations, including Ajloun, Umm Qais, Pella (Tabaqat Fahl), the Baptism Site, Jerash, and Rihab, highlighting the diversity of Jordan's tourism offerings.
The Ministry stated that "Urdunnu Jannah" is a key government initiative designed to revitalize the sector and empower local communities. Following a Cabinet decision last week, exemptions for entry fees to archaeological sites under the program and government coverage of trip costs have been extended until December 31.
The program aims to involve all segments of the tourism industry—including transport, hospitality, and guiding—to expand the economic benefits of tourism throughout the country.
