Jordan Society of Tourism and Travel Agents (JSTA) follows with great surprise and denunciation statements issued by spokesperson for Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, which included terms questioning legality and constitutionality of association.
JSTA confirmed being sole legitimate representative of tourism and travel offices sector, specifically Hajj and Umrah offices, according to effective legislation. Association categorically rejected any attempts to prejudice its status or institutional role, citing direct impact on sector confusion and interests of workers.
Association placed before Prime Minister several challenges facing Hajj and Umrah sector resulting from lack of institutional coordination:
First: Absence of joint committees between association and competent Hajj and Umrah authorities in Ministry of Awqaf, weakening coordination in managing vital file.
Second: Weak oversight of unlicensed entities, leading to decline in service levels and disruption of regulatory system.
Third: Following unilateral approach in managing Hajj files without involving legitimate representatives or benefiting from their expertise, negatively reflecting on work efficiency.
Fourth: Withholding official data and transactions, especially regarding delayed media briefings on Jordanian pilgrim grouping dates, causing operational pressure on offices.
JSTA emphasized necessity of urgent intervention to correct imbalances and ensure respect for legal frameworks through strengthening partnership with association as legitimate representative and activating coordination channels to maintain reputation of Hajj and Umrah sector in Kingdom.
