The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply has issued 1,500 violations against establishments since the beginning of this year for non-compliance with provisions of Industry and Trade Law and related legislation.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the ministry said its Market Monitoring Directorate dealt with 650 complaints sent from citizens to its market monitors deployed nationwide.

The ministry also took the necessary measures to resolve the cases, reflecting the speed of response and effectiveness of oversight.

The statement added that competent teams conducted 1,895 inspection tours, encompassing 30,871 visits to commercial establishments in various governorates to ensure their compliance with applicable regulations and instructions.

During the past month, the ministry issued 345 violations, including 284 for failing to display prices and 29 others for exceeding the set price in 441 inspection tours that included visits to 7,336 commercial entities.

The directorate also handled 228 complaints and the necessary measures were taken to ensure market stability.

Additionally, the ministry noted the Market Monitoring Directorate continues to implement provisions of the Industry and Trade Law, which aims to monitor availability of basic food commodities, verify price displays and compliance, track wholesale inventory, address any practices for concealing or refusing to sell goods, and oversee clearances and promotional offers.

The ministry affirmed continuation of its monitoring campaigns to ensure market stability and consumer protection, urging citizens to submit their complaints and observations through official channels and designated numbers: landline (06-5629045), via WhatsApp at (0797527832), or by email at (MComplaint@mit.gov.jo).
