Amman, June 9, 2026: Jordanian student and designer Dania Al-Louzi has etched her name into one of the most prominent sporting milestones in the Kingdom's history. Al-Louzi participated in designing the jerseys for the Jordanian national football team ("Al-Nashama") for their historic debut appearance at the 2026 World Cup finals.
In an exclusive interview, Al-Louzi shared key insights into her journey, the cultural inspirations behind her designs, and the challenges she overcame:
Key Highlights from Dania Al-Louzi's Interview:
An Unforgettable Selection: Al-Louzi revealed that receiving the news of being chosen to design the national jerseys came as a "beautiful shock" and an indescribable joy, as she never expected to be granted such a massive opportunity on a global stage.
Cultural Design Inspirations: The primary objective was to introduce Jordan's rich national identity to the world. The red and white jerseys were directly inspired by the traditional Jordanian Shemagh, blending its patterns into a modern sports aesthetic. Meanwhile, the black jersey was inspired by the Black Iris (Sawsan Al-Sawda), a prominent national symbol of Jordan.
From Paper to Reality: Al-Louzi noted that the initial design phase took only ten days before undergoing technical modifications. She faced significant challenges in successfully translating her creative concepts from paper into physical reality while preserving authentic Jordanian identity.
Overwhelming Pride and Demand: Seeing the Nashama players wearing her designs for the first time was an unforgettable moment and a dream come true. Furthermore, the public demand and reception for the national team jerseys both inside and outside Jordan completely exceeded her expectations.
Academic Background & Message to Fans
Al-Louzi, who is currently studying at the Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) alongside receiving specialized training in fashion design, stated that her passion for this field began many years ago.
Concluding her remarks, she sent an encouraging message to Jordanian fans to fiercely back the national team during their historic World Cup journey, emphasizing that positive words and moral support are crucial for boosting the players' confidence on the global pitch.
