The Executive Director of the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, Yazan Al-Khodair, confirmed that the festival continues to solidify its role as a national platform for supporting culture and creativity. He noted that it also serves as an economic and marketing window that contributes to empowering local societies, artisans, and productive families by providing spaces to display their products to thousands of visitors from both inside and outside Jordan.
Al-Khodair told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the festival management has allocated 100 booths this year to display the products of societies and artisans. This step aims to support traditional industries and crafts, enable societies to market their products, and enhance their resources, aligning with the developmental role the festival plays alongside its cultural and artistic mission.
He added that 60 percent of the festival's events are cultural in nature, reflecting the festival's commitment to highlighting the Jordanian cultural identity and boosting cultural activities across the Kingdom's various governorates. He noted that the current edition's program includes 213 diverse events, including 20 events that will be held in several governorates and cultural centers to expand the circle of participation and deliver cultural activities to various regions of the Kingdom.
He explained that the current edition will, for the first time, feature 34 events at the Hippodrome (the racetrack) after completing its preparation to accommodate around 3,000 people. He indicated that the site will host various artistic and cultural programs, and entry will be free for all visitors, thereby allowing the largest possible segment of the public to enjoy the festival's activities.
He pointed out that 40 tables will also be allocated at the Hippodrome to display rural products and handicrafts, providing additional space for artisans and productive families to showcase and market their products, which reinforces the presence of traditional Jordanian industries within the festival's events.
In terms of visuals, Al-Khodair explained that the festival management will implement a 3D lighting projection on Hadrian's Gate (Arch of Triumph), creating a scene that reflects the message of the Jerash Festival and highlights the civilized image of Jordan. This coincides with the launch of the new logo and visual identity inspired by the symbols, colors, and engravings of the archaeological city of Jerash, embodying the ancient cultural heritage of the site and granting the festival a renewed visual identity that reflects its authenticity and development.
Al-Khodair stressed that the Jerash Festival is no longer just a cultural and artistic event, but has evolved into an integrated national project that combines culture, arts, economic development, and tourism. It contributes to stimulating commercial activity, supporting local communities, and promoting Jordanian cultural heritage, while consolidating Jordan's status as a premier cultural and tourist destination on both Arab and international levels.
