The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, in its 40th edition, continues to consolidate its developmental role alongside its cultural and artistic mission. According to a press statement issued on Saturday by the festival management, this is achieved through initiatives aimed at empowering women and youth, supporting productive families, and enhancing the participation of the local community, contributing to a direct economic impact for the people of the Jerash Governorate and other regions.
The festival management, in cooperation with the Women and Youth Empowerment Unit, the Greater Jerash Municipality, the Jordanian Women's Union, and the General Federation of Voluntary Societies, is implementing an integrated program to support the "Jerasa" bazaar. The bazaar is held this year in the Oval Plaza and the Hippodrome within the archaeological city, serving as a dedicated space to showcase local products and handicrafts, connecting creators directly with thousands of festival visitors.
Key Initiatives of the "Jerasa" Bazaar
Broad Participation: This year, 200 women and youth from Jerash and various governorates across the Kingdom are participating, displaying food, craft, and heritage products to boost women's economic inclusion and provide a direct marketing outlet for small enterprises.
Logistical Support: The festival management supplied the Greater Jerash Municipality with 100 display carts dedicated to the participants.
Enhanced Visual Identity: Unified packaging materials bearing the festival logo have been provided to elevate the presentation of local goods and highlight the quality of Jordanian craftsmanship.
Free Services: To eliminate barriers for productive families and charitable societies, the festival management is providing all organizational and promotional services entirely free of charge.
The management emphasized that the "Jerasa" bazaar reflects the festival's broader vision of creating real economic opportunities. It does not merely display products, but also introduces traditional crafts, home industries, and local food specialties of the Jerash Governorate to a wide audience of Jordanian, Arab, and foreign visitors, opening broader marketing horizons.
The festival administration stressed that success is not measured solely by cultural and artistic performances, but by the tangible developmental impact achieved through community empowerment and economic support. The Jerash Festival management invites all visitors of the archaeological city to explore the bazaar, discover the locally crafted goods, and support productive families in an experience that bridges culture, identity, and sustainable development.
