Amman, July 29 — The Fourth Monodrama Theater Festival, held as part of the 40th Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, presented two performances Wednesday evening at the Royal Cultural Center: "The Arrival" from Egypt and "Bil-Rouge Al-Ahmar" ("In Red Lipstick") from Sudan.
The Egyptian play, written by Wafaa Hassan and directed and performed by Hind Naaman, is a silent performance exploring the human journey through psychological and existential dimensions, seeking self and belonging through the use of cosmic space.
"Bil-Rouge Al-Ahmar," written and directed by Mohammed Aleish and performed by Wisam Salah of Sudan, was staged on the main stage. Set entirely within a Sudanese ritual space, it follows a beauty expert grappling with chaos and inner turmoil as she awaits a husband absent because of war.
Also on the festival's agenda, for a second consecutive day, was a training workshop titled "Using Artificial Intelligence to Build Visual Scenography in Monodrama Theater," led by Dr. Ahmad Al-Faleh. The workshop explored how AI can be used in theatrical creativity through the latest applications and innovative tools that help develop directorial vision, set design, lighting, costumes, and visual effects.
The festival continues Thursday at the Royal Cultural Center, with a Palestinian play titled "Al-Hakoura," written and performed by Lina Faour and directed by Saeed Salameh, showing on the Circular Stage. A Sudanese play, "Sayyid Al-Khashaba" ("Master of the Stage"), written by Youssef Al-Hamdan and Zinati Qudsieh and directed by and starring Zinati Qudsieh, will on the main stage.
