Arab Bank launched its first climate disclosure report according to the IFRS S2 standard, in a step that underscores its ongoing commitment to transparency and aligning its practices with the best international standards for sustainability and climate disclosures.
As part of its commitment to the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) standards, the bank disclosed in its first report the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions associated with financing and investment activities, alongside the bank's broader emissions inventory. This solidifies its position as a leading banking institution in adopting advanced climate practices at the regional level, aligning with the bank's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainability strategy.
The report outlines the bank's approach to managing climate-related risks and opportunities within an integrated framework that includes governance and decision-making mechanisms, integrating climate considerations into corporate strategy, managing climate-related risks, and adopting the disclosure of relevant metrics and targets, alongside future directions and commitments in this area.
This report confirms the bank's keenness to adopt the requirements of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards, enhancing its readiness to keep pace with global regulatory developments and meeting the expectations of investors, financial institutions, and stakeholders involved in climate disclosure in line with international best practices.
The release of this report comes as part of Arab Bank's continuous efforts to integrate sustainability and climate considerations into its various operations and decisions, reflecting its commitment to building a more responsible and future-ready banking model.
