In foreign policy, there is no room for hasty judgments or fleeting emotions. States are not managed by knee-jerk reactions, but rather through precise calculations of interests, a conscious reading of the balance of power, and an understanding of the scale of risks and the limits of capabilities. Jordan—by virtue of its location, history, and the complexities of the surrounding region—does not possess the luxury of emotional policymaking, nor can it afford the cost of recklessness.
Jordanian experience has proven that the state’s foreign policy positions, expressed by His Majesty the King at major regional and international turning points, were correct stances at pivotal moments. They prioritized Jordan's interest and the protection of its security and stability, without abandoning its national and Arab principles.
History here is not merely a memory, but a witness to the soundness of this approach. Despite its limited resources and the magnitude of surrounding challenges, Jordan has managed to navigate major crises, maintaining its statehood, stability, and sovereign decision-making, without abandoning its principles or getting dragged into adventures beyond its capacity.
At the forefront of these principles is the Palestinian cause. Jordan has remained steadfast in supporting the Palestinian people and their right to freedom, independence, and the inherent right to establish their state on their land. It continues to bolster their resilience while rejecting all attempts to uproot Palestinians from their land or liquidate their cause at the expense of Jordan or the region.
Hence, aligning behind the state, its leadership, positions, and foreign policy decisions is the choice reinforced by experience and confirmed by history. Sovereign decisions are not built on emotion, but on a broad matrix of information, assessments, and calculations of interests and risks, with the state bearing the responsibility for their outcomes and consequences.
Rallying behind the state and its leadership does not mean erasing opinion or suppressing criticism; rather, it means that the state remains the reference point in sovereign and fateful issues, and that disagreement remains responsible—never turning into something that weakens Jordan's position or disrupts its ability to protect its interests.
Experience has shown that the Jordanian stance has never been hostage to the loudest voice. Instead, it has been based on an accurate understanding of the limits of power, the sound deployment of political and diplomatic tools, adherence to core principles, and flexibility in managing changing variables.
For this reason, trust in the Jordanian position is not emotional trust; it is a confidence built through experience and confirmed by historical milestones.
When the state faces a regional or international storm, aligning behind it is not a political luxury, but a national responsibility. Jordan's strength begins with its cohesion, the unity of its position, and confidence in its leadership to manage what the state cannot handle through the logic of emotion.
Readings may differ and opinions may multiply, but on fateful issues, the compass must remain one: Jordan first—its security, stability, supreme interests, and principles first. Rallying behind the state and its leadership is the stance dictated by national responsibility and supported by the lessons of history.
States do not weather storms through a multiplicity of voices, but through the wisdom of decision-making, the firmness of stance, and the cohesion of the home front.
When Jordan stands at a crossroads, the natural place for a Jordanian is behind their state and its leadership.
