Al-Hussein SC is preparing for a crucial clash against India's East Bengal in the AFC Champions League Two, with both the coaching staff and players sharply focused and eager to put on a showing worthy of the club's name and of Jordanian football on the continental stage.
Bashar Bani Yassin, Al-Hussein's caretaker coach, said the team's preparations for the match have gone well inside camp, noting the players have reached a high level of focus and composure heading into the game.
"Our preparations inside camp have been good, the team is focused and we're well prepared for the match. The squad is sharp and calm, and we'll go into this match with a champion's mentality — the players understand exactly what this game means," Bani Yassin said at the press conference.
For his part, Al-Hussein defender Abdullah Nseib stressed the importance of the match, calling it a special point of pride for Jordanian football in general and for Al-Hussein in particular, given the club's strong track record in its previous Asian campaigns.
Nseib said Al-Hussein's players understand the scale of responsibility resting on their shoulders, adding that the team is determined to put in a big performance in the Asian tournament, setting aside the underwhelming results and form they've shown recently in domestic competition.
"Everyone knows how important this match is — it's a special tournament for Jordanian football in general and for Al-Hussein in particular, and everyone remembers Al-Hussein's run in this competition in past years, which did the country proud," he added.
He continued: "As players, we know how important this match is, and God willing, just as Al-Hussein performed in this tournament in years past, we'll be a big club and put in a big performance," affirming the players' determination to the character required and represent Jordanian football in the best possible light.
