Qatrana Castle welcomed 44,281 visitors during the first seven months of the current year, including 43,730 Jordanians and 551 foreign tourists, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
According to the data, visitor distribution from January through July was as follows: 332 visitors in January, 862 in February, 111 in March, 7,752 in April, 12,392 in May, 8,398 in June, and 14,434 in July.
Jordanian visitors accounted for approximately 98.8% of total visitors to the castle during this period, compared to about 1.2% for foreign tourists.
Ministry data showed that the castle recorded 29 visitors during July 2025, including 27 Jordanians and 2 foreign visitors, noting that the castle opened in July 2025.
In September 2025, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Emad Hijazeen inaugurated the development project for the Qatrana Castle archaeological site, aiming to rehabilitate the castle and transform it into an integrated tourism product reflecting its historical and strategic value.
A decision approving the designation of the Qatrana Castle archaeological site as a tourist site was published in the Official Gazette last year.
The decision aims to develop the tourism offering at the site, highlight its historical character, provide services for visitors and tourists, and promote tourism investment at the location to generate new employment opportunities for members of the local community.
The designation enables the Ministry of Tourism to complete procedures for developing the site pursuant to Article 2 of the Tourism Sites Management Bylaw No. 23 of 2014, following Cabinet approval on April 16, 2025, based on the recommendation of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities.
