AMMAN — Marwan Jomaa, Vice President of the Jordan Football Association (JFA), stated on Tuesday that the association will conduct an internal review following the national team’s recent match against Syria to evaluate operational shortcomings and enforce accountability where direct responsibility is established.
Speaking on the sidelines of a JFA board meeting, Jomaa confirmed that HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the JFA, instructed officials to launch a thorough investigation into administrative and technical aspects of the event to identify operational errors and prevent their recurrence in upcoming fixtures.
Addressing public concern, Jomaa issued an apology to the Jordanian public for technical disruptions that affected the live broadcast of the Syria match, assuring fans that the association is taking necessary measures to ensure media transmission meets standard quality controls moving forward. He urged media entities and supporters to balance constructive feedback regarding broadcast logistics with substantive evaluation of on-field team performance.
Discussing national team trajectory, Jomaa highlighted that while reaching advanced international milestones—including FIFA World Cup qualification routes—remains a core objective, sustaining competitive performance requires institutional collaboration and realistic expectations. He noted that the past three to four years represented a successful era for Jordanian football, emphasizing the importance of building upon structural gains rather than dismantling progress over isolated setbacks.
Regarding the upcoming AFC Asian Cup, Jomaa called for a realistic assessment of expectations given the high caliber of competing Asian powerhouses, including Japan, South Korea, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. He affirmed that while the national squad will compete aggressively, failing to advance past specific rounds or missing out on a tournament title should not automatically be classified as an institutional failure.
In tandem with the operational review, the JFA Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Secretary-General Samar Nassar, expressing gratitude for her administrative contributions to national football development during her tenure. The board subsequently appointed Farah Al-Badarneh as Acting Secretary-General to ensure administrative continuity across ongoing strategic programs.
