Jordan raised its medal tally at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya to 11 medals—comprising two gold, three silver, and six bronze—one day prior to the conclusion of the games, marking the Kingdom's most successful historical performance across Asian Games editions in terms of overall medal composition.
On Saturday, national taekwondo athlete Fadia Al-Khirfan secured the gold medal in the women's under-57 kg weight category, while teammates Zaid Mustafa and Mohammad Al-Adarbeh added two bronze medals to the national record.
Al-Khirfan captured the gold following a 2–1 victory over China's Zhang Chuling in the final match of the under-57 kg event. She commenced her campaign in the quarterfinals with a victory over the Philippines' Jessica Canbal, proceeded to defeat Thailand's Natkamon Wassana in the semifinals, and sealed her championship title against Zhang.
Rana Al-Saeed, Secretary General of the Jordan Olympic Committee, presented the gold medal to Al-Khirfan during the official podium ceremony.
In the men's under-68 kg category, Zaid Mustafa earned a bronze medal following victories against Afghanistan's Hekmatullah Zain in the round of 16 and Mongolia's Enkhbayar Gantulga in the quarterfinals, before falling to Iran's Mehdi Haji in the semifinals.
Mohammad Al-Adarbeh secured the bronze medal in the over-80 kg division after defeating Japan's Hidenori Ibata in the round of 16 and Kazakhstan's Beibarys Kaplan in the quarterfinals, before losing to Iran's Arian Salimi in the semifinals.
In the women's over-67 kg event, national team member Rama Abu Al-Rub exited the competition in the quarterfinals following a 2–0 loss to South Korea's Song Da-bin, after having defeated Qatar's Nour Mohammad in the round of 16.
With these achievements, the national taekwondo delegation elevated its total count at the Nagoya Asian Games to five medals (one gold and four bronze), establishing the sport's highest single-edition medal tally in Jordan's Asian Games history.
