AMMAN — Her Royal Highness Princess Alia bint Al Hussein patronized on Monday evening, October 5, 2026, the graduation ceremony for the summer semester cohort (33rd Class) of Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU) at the Arena Theatre.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Maher Al-Hourani, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Prof. Ahmad Hamdan, President of the University; Prof. Sari Hamdan, University Advisor; Vice Presidents Prof. Bashar Al-Tarawneh and Prof. Mustafa Al-Atiyat; alongside members of the Board of Trustees, deans, faculty members, administrative staff, and families of the graduating students.
The proceedings opened with the Royal Anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran delivered by student Abdulaziz Hosni Ahmad from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology.
Addressing the audience, Vice President for Administrative Affairs Prof. Mustafa Al-Atiyat welcomed Princess Alia and highlighted the legacy of the university’s founder, the late Dr. Ahmad Al-Hourani, who established Jordan's first private university in 1990. Al-Atiyat emphasized that the institution continues its development under the administrative leadership of Dr. Maher Al-Hourani and the academic guidance of President Prof. Ahmad Hamdan.
Al-Atiyat outlined AAU's recent achievements across international institutional classifications, including securing the 376–400 bracket globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026—ranking first among all public and private Jordanian universities—and placing 22nd globally in the International Outlook indicator. He also cited national top positions in subject rankings including computer science, educational studies, physical sciences, arts and humanities, and engineering. Additionally, he referenced the university's placement at 643rd globally in the QS World University Rankings, its +5 Stars rating from QS Stars, and its inclusion in the 301–400 category for artificial intelligence and electrical/electronic engineering in the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Topics 2026.
Following the opening address, Dr. Maher Al-Hourani presented the University Commemorative Shield to Princess Alia in appreciation of her patronage.
Representing the graduating class, Jawad Subhi Al-Duraidi, a Medical Laboratory Sciences graduate, delivered the valedictory speech, expressing gratitude to the university leadership, academic faculty, and graduates' families. Vice President Prof. Bashar Al-Tarawneh subsequently read the official graduation decree, confirming that students across graduate studies, pharmacy, information technology, allied medical sciences, engineering, business, architecture and design, arts and sciences, hospitality management, law, educational sciences, and nursing had fulfilled the requirements for their respective Master's and Bachelor's degrees.
