Attracting Investment and Capitalizing on Timing

By Ziad Al-Baloush
There is no disagreement that Jordan, thanks to the Royal directives and high vision of its wise Hashemite leadership, has consolidated its position as a safe haven for both individuals and capital.
However, the fundamental question confronting relevant authorities today is: What are we waiting for to translate this strategic security into tangible economic leaps?
Today, we live in the heart of a turbulent region surrounded by storms, where local and international maritime straits and corridors face compounding crises. This leaves major global corporations with the dilemma of seeking stability. Here lies Jordan's competitive advantage; safety and security are not merely political slogans, but an "economic asset" that attracts investment if properly leveraged and if work timelines are managed effectively.
The modern philosophy of economic security demands focus on two pillars that tolerate no delay:
First: Protecting and Empowering Existing Investments
The best way to promote our investment climate is to satisfy investors currently operating within the Kingdom. It is unacceptable for an existing investor to encounter contradictory regulations across state institutions or bureaucratic hurdles that stall their project and drive them to seek alternative markets. Supporting existing enterprises and removing their obstacles serves as the primary catalyst and genuine guarantee for attracting new capital.
Second: Genuine Partnership and Capitalizing on Time
His Majesty the King has emphasized that this is the year for executing plans and fulfilling the Economic Modernization Vision. Therefore, eliminating administrative distortions and complexities, as well as unifying regulatory authorities under a flexible investment umbrella, are essential requirements to keep pace with investor demands.
There is no longer room for favoritism or inaction from any official in a leadership position. The complex regional environment affords us a golden opportunity to serve as a safe regional hub for trade, industry, and digital services. Any official unable to align their decisions with the pace of the Royal vision and the imperatives of the current stage should make way for new talent capable of delivering results.
In conclusion, time is unforgiving, and the stability we enjoy is a sacred trust that requires all of us—both public and private sectors—to protect and translate into economic growth, jobs, and prosperity.
The work hour has begun; are we ready?
