On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Minister of Labor, Youssef Al-Shamali, the Executive Director of the Jordanian Foundation for Economic Enterprise Development, Abdel Fattah Al-Kayed, sponsored today the closing ceremony of the project “Building Intellectual Property to Achieve Smart and Sustainable Growth in the Mediterranean Region,” which the Foundation led its implementation with the participation of institutions from Italy and Greece. And Tunisia, with the support of the European Union over the past three years, in the presence of a number of personalities and representatives of participating institutions from Tunisia, Italy and Greece.
In his speech at the celebration, Abdel Fattah Al-Kayed, Director of the Jordanian Foundation for Economic Enterprise Development, confirmed that the Foundation has today completed the management of the file of this program with European support and a regional partnership to confirm its ability to manage international technical and financial support programs to contribute to the development of the innovative business environment in the countries of the Mediterranean basin, stressing that the partnership With the European Union and its various institutions, it is focused on meeting Jordan's needs to achieve the vision of economic modernization, developing the Jordanian product, and pushing towards increasing the volume of Jordanian exports to European Union countries.
Al-Kayed stated that the Foundation was at the forefront of the official Jordanian institutions that began the practical implementation of the objectives of the economic modernization vision through a strategic plan approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors aimed at focusing on implementation drivers and the advancement of the targeted sectors in a way that keeps pace with future requirements and resources to accelerate Jordanian economic growth, in addition to launching the industrial modernization program. Within the programs of the Industry Support and Development Fund, he confirmed that “GEDCO” today is working on the ground in various Jordanian governorates, with the distribution of the limited financial resources allocated to it in the best possible way for the development of micro, small and medium enterprises, with a staff that is small in number but has great influence.
The coordinator of the cross-border cooperation program, Dr. Ismat Karadsheh, said that the cross-border cooperation program is one of the financing projects from the European Union that funds joint projects with 13 countries participating in the program, noting that the program currently funds 80 projects, including 56 projects in Jordan, worth 23.5 million euros, covering several... Areas in the environment, combating climate change, and others. He also noted the presence of an office for the program in Jordan.
Karadsheh added that the European Union will launch next month the "European Regional Cooperation for the Mediterranean" program, with a value of 234 million euros, to finance new projects in various sectors.
He said that the program will provide suitable opportunities and sufficient funding for suitable projects, calling for the importance of submitting projects for this program and benefiting from the funding provided after its launch next month.
For his part, Mr. Patrick Lambrechts, Head of the Cooperation Department at the European Union Commission in Jordan, praised the Intellectual Property Support Project (IPMED) as one of the innovative and ambitious projects implemented by the Jordanian Enterprise Development Corporation, and added that the European Union will continue to fund programs that support cross-border cooperation in the sea region. Mediterranean with a clear focus on programs that support the green transition and digitalization in Jordan.
It is worth noting that the Foundation has cooperated with the partners concerned with qualifying economic and civil society institutions in the field of intellectual property. Through the program, a training program was held for more than 100 trainees in Irbid governorate alone. The Foundation also held a group of panel discussions involving partners. Those concerned to discuss intellectual property policies and laws, as the Foundation provided about 100 special diagnostic services for intellectual property for startups, small and medium companies, and entrepreneurs from the youth sector, and provided financial grants for a number of pioneering projects in this field.
