Today, Sunday, the Minister of the Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Dr. Fares Al-Braizat, discussed the security and tourism situation in Petra after the campaign carried out by the authority in cooperation with the security authorities in the archaeological reserve.
During the meeting, Al-Faraya confirmed the readiness of the Ministry, represented by all security services, to cooperate with the authority and provide the appropriate environment for visitors to Petra, and the efforts that seek to preserve the archaeological site and its privacy.
For his part, Al-Braizat said that the authority, in cooperation with the security authorities, achieved an achievement befitting the status of the Pink City on the global tourism map, by eliminating attacks in the archaeological reserve.
He added that sustainable and just development and the rule of law are a top priority for the authority, and it continues to enforce the law and address any violation in accordance with the law and within its sovereignty and in a way that preserves the archaeological site.
Al-Braizat pointed out that this step will enhance the efforts of the Authority, relevant authorities and local communities in preserving Petra as a world heritage site registered in UNESCO since 1985 and sustaining it for future generations, noting that the Authority is working to complete an ambitious development plan to build 400 homes and sustainable employment opportunities for the local community. .
It is noteworthy that the authority has been cooperating with the security authorities since last week to remove attacks and violations in the archaeological reserve and its caves.
