The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated that the Israeli attack on Rafah “will mean more suffering and deaths among civilians.”
The UN agency pointed out in a post on platform (X) that the consequences “will be devastating” for 1.4 million Palestinians.
UNRWA added that it “will not participate in the evacuation” and will maintain its presence in Rafah for as long as possible, continuing to provide life-saving assistance to people.
“The Kingdom’s” correspondent reported that families have indeed moved from the eastern areas of Rafah city that were evacuated, and the Palestinians residing there were displaced and asked to evacuate towards the western areas as a first station, in a development described as “dangerous.”
He mentioned that Israel said there is a “safe zone announced from south of Khan Yunis city to north of Deir al-Balah city,” explaining that these areas, located west of Salah al-Din Street, can be inhabited by Palestinians.
“The Kingdom’s” correspondent added that “this area is already crowded, and Khan Yunis city is destroyed and not suitable for the displaced to reside in. Therefore, it cannot be considered an alternative area because the conditions there are difficult, in addition to the fact that no tents have been set up for the displaced to go to, contrary to what Israel is trying to promote, and no camps have been established to host this number of displaced people.”
