Sources have informed that the former Central Bank Governor Ziad Fariz is set to succeed Mazen Al-Khatib as the chairman of the Social Security Investment Council, following the end of Al-Khatib’s term.
The day before yesterday marked the last session chaired by Al-Khatib at the Social Security Investment Council meeting, after he had completed a full six years in his position.
Al-Khatib was appointed by a decision from the Council of Ministers in May 2018 for a three-year term as stipulated by law, and then his term was renewed in May 2021.
Fariz had served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan for several years after holding various ministerial positions including planning, industry, trade, and as Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister.
It is noted that the former Minister of Finance, Azaddin Kanakrieh, occupies the position of Chairman of the Social Security Investment Fund, while Mohammad Saleh Al-Tarawneh holds the position of the General Director of the Social Security Corporation, and the Minister of Labor, Nadia Al-Rawabdeh, holds the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Social Security Corporation by virtue of her position as Minister of Labor.
