His Majesty King Abdullah II met in Washington on Monday with the President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, and they discussed ways to enhance economic and developmental cooperation.
The meeting addressed Jordan’s efforts in economic modernization and public sector reform, where His Majesty expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s support for the Kingdom in implementing the programs of the economic modernization vision on the ground.
His Majesty commended the World Bank’s support for water projects in Jordan, especially the desalination and water transfer project from Aqaba to Amman (the national water carrier).
His Majesty also highlighted the importance of the World Bank’s role in supporting public-private partnership projects, as well as projects in the transport and energy sectors.
The economic repercussions of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip on Jordan were also discussed.
In turn, the President of the World Bank Group praised the Kingdom’s economic modernization vision and what has been achieved from it according to its timeline.
The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty’s Office, Jafar Hassan, and the Jordanian Ambassador to Washington, Dina Kawar.
