In an interview with Rum News Agency, former Minister of Awqaf Dr. Wael Arabiyat discussed Jordan’s steadfast stance on the Palestinian issue, its handling of U.S. relations, and key regional and political matters.

Key Points from the Interview:

King Abdullah’s White House Visit: Arabiyat revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump was surprised by the king’s approach during a joint press conference.

Jordan’s Understanding of U.S. Policy: He emphasized that Jordan has a deep understanding of American politics and decision-making processes.

Hashemite Commitment to Arab Causes: Arabiyat noted that Jordan remains the only country that retained its territories from 1948 while maintaining its stance on regional issues.

Palestinian Issue & Gaza-West Bank Connection: He stressed the importance of linking Gaza and the West Bank and criticized the persistent discussion of displacement, stating Palestinians are unwilling to relive that experience.

External Pressures & Misinformation: Jordan faces foreign attempts to undermine the king’s firm stance on Palestine, but such efforts have not swayed his position.

Arab Summit & Resistance Support: Arabiyat praised the positive stance of Arab leaders in the latest summit, with resistance groups acknowledging their decisions.

His Government Tenure & Resignation: Arabiyat reflected on his time in office, stating he achieved significant progress and resigned from Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki’s government two months before protests erupted.

Islamic Movement in Jordan: He highlighted that Jordan maintained relations with the Muslim Brotherhood despite its classification as a terrorist group by some nations. He described the Islamic Action Front as deeply rooted in Jordanian politics, noting that principle-driven parties endure while those based on interests fade.

Pilgrimage Fund Growth: The Hajj Fund accumulated 360 million dinars over 12 years, demonstrating its financial success in securing pilgrims’ savings.

Arabiyat concluded by emphasizing the need for national awareness to protect Jordan’s stability and historical legacy.
