At least 40 Palestinians were killed Monday by Israeli fire and airstrikes across Gaza, including 10 who were seeking humanitarian aid, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Medical workers said the 10 were killed in two separate incidents near aid distribution sites operated by the US-backed Gaza Relief Foundation in central and southern Gaza.
Five others reportedly died of hunger, as humanitarian agencies warned of a looming famine.
The UN says over 1,000 people have been killed while trying to access aid since the Gaza Relief Foundation began operations in May 2025 — most shot by Israeli forces stationed near aid locations.
The Foundation said no incidents occurred at or near its sites on Monday. Reuters could not independently verify the location of the two fatal incidents.
Among the mourners at Gaza City's Al-Shifa Hospital on Monday was Bilal Thari, 40, who came to collect the body of a relative killed the previous day while seeking aid, according to Gaza health officials.
