The National Electric Power Company reported a record electricity load of 4,700 megawatts at 7:44 p.m. on Monday, driven by the heatwave sweeping the country.
The company increased readiness through special operational plans to handle the surge in demand and ensure power plant and transmission network preparedness. Director-General Sufian Bataineh confirmed available generation capacity is sufficient to meet rising demand, with regular and preventive maintenance programmes completed.
