Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin said low-cost carriers Wizz Air and Ryanair will gradually resume flights to Jordan starting late August, with Wizz Air relaunching its Budapest–Amman route on 26 August, operating year-round with two weekly flights.

Hijazin added that the 2025/2026 winter season will see the largest network of direct low-cost flights linking Jordan to 18 European destinations, operated by major carriers including Ryanair, Wizz Air and Eurowings, from Queen Alia International Airport.

He noted that Wizz Air’s upcoming winter schedule will also include four direct routes to King Hussein International Airport in Aqaba, each with two weekly flights, connecting to Katowice and Warsaw (Poland), Bucharest (Romania), and Sofia (Bulgaria). This, he said, will boost Aqaba’s position as a main hub for beach and winter tourism.

Tourism Promotion Board Director-General Abdulrazzaq Arabiat said flights will begin gradually from 16 September 2025 until the end of March 2026, with extensions into the summer 2026 season.

He added that the resumed and new destinations include major European cities such as Milan, Paphos, Paris, Rome, Madrid, Vienna, Budapest, Stuttgart, Prague and London. This expansion, he said, will strengthen tourist flows to Jordan during the winter season, supporting the tourism sector by increasing European arrivals and boosting visits to Petra in particular.

Arabiat stressed that the move is part of broader efforts to revive tourism affected by regional geopolitical tensions, alongside continuous promotional campaigns to expand air connectivity with target markets and ease access to Jordan’s tourist, archaeological and natural sites, including Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

He noted that diversifying and increasing direct routes with European markets will support national tourism plans, emphasising that affordable airfares will enhance Jordan’s competitiveness as a global destination.
