President, Arab Organization for Young Lawyers

Crown Prince Hussein announces reactivation of national service as part of a comprehensive vision to build and empower Jordanian youth while reinforcing values on which the Kingdom was founded.

The initiative comes amid global transformations and challenges that require preparing a generation capable of responsibility, discipline, and commitment, with faith in the value of work and respect.

The step is not a response to imminent threats but a way to guide youth towards loyalty to their country and nation. The Crown Prince, who grew up in a military school that shaped his character, seeks to pass on that experience through the programme.

National service in Jordan’s history has been a symbol of manhood, belonging, and pride for those who joined. It is not limited to military training, but also instils cooperation, teamwork, discipline, patience, and respect for order. The Crown Prince believes temporary military involvement will reshape youth identity, align them fully with national values, and prepare them to be strong militarily, politically, and economically.

What distinguishes the new approach is its combination of military training with vocational and technical qualification programmes, giving young people practical skills for the labour market and opening paths toward self-reliance.

National service is described as a noble patriotic mission and a space for embedding authentic Jordanian values and building a stronger, more cohesive society. Every young Jordanian called today is invited to be a cornerstone in building tomorrow’s Jordan — strong with its youth, united in its cohesion, and loyal in its devotion.
