Amman Municipality is repaving 20 damaged main streets with a total area of about 500,000 square metres at a cost of JD 3 million, said Roads Maintenance Department director Raed Dajeh on Saturday.

He told Al Mamlaka TV that technical committees identified around 38 damaged main streets through field inspections and citizen reports, and 20 were selected for repaving and maintenance.

Dajeh said the municipality floats a tender annually for main roads, adding that a new tender for secondary roads in the capital will be awarded within a week.

He noted that night works began 10 days ago on several key roads as part of rehabilitation plans. The works include Queen Rania Street, Wasfi al-Tal Street, Medina Munawara Street, King Abdullah II Street, al-Hurriya Street/ al-Muqablain, Jerusalem Street/ Ras al-Ain, al-Nouri al-Hadid Street/ Qweismeh, King Abdullah I Street/ Marka, Zahran Street, al-Furusiyya Street/ Nasr, Queen Alia and Queen Noor Streets/ Abdali, Salah al-Din Street/ Medina, Abu Nusair Street, Shafa Badran main street, and Osama bin Zaid Street/ Bashir Emergency Hill/ Yarmouk, in addition to others to be included in the tender.
