The management of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX 2026) honored the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) during a ceremony held on the sidelines of the exhibition's activities in the city of Aqaba, in recognition of its role in supporting national efforts and enhancing the Kingdom's presence on the map of international events and conferences.
This recognition reflects the importance of complementary roles among national institutions in cementing Jordan's position as a regional hub for hosting major international events, as well as maximizing their economic and tourism impact to boost the Kingdom's competitiveness and open new horizons for international cooperation and partnerships.
Board Member and Official Spokesperson of the Jordan Tourism Board, Mr. Hani Al-Dabbas, emphasized that SOFEX transcends its defense and security dimensions to serve as a strategic platform reflecting Jordan's capability to host global events with efficiency and competence. He noted that the true value of such events lies in translating international participation into sustainable tourism and investment opportunities, while reinforcing the Kingdom's image as a destination combining security, stability, tourism diversity, and organizational excellence.
Al-Dabbas added that tourism is no longer an isolated sector from the rest of the economy, but rather a cross-cutting pillar requiring unified national efforts and the leveraging of international occasions to expand tourism market bases and consolidate Jordan's standing on the global tourism map.
For his part, JTB Board Member Mr. Mazen Kawar stated that the Kingdom's hosting of SOFEX reflects growing international confidence in Jordan's organizational capabilities and tourism infrastructure. He pointed out the importance of building upon these successes to develop conference, exhibition, and business tourism, while strengthening public-private partnerships to ensure the economic impact of these events extends across various tourism sectors and services.
The Board expressed its pride in this recognition, commending the national efforts that contributed to the success of the exhibition and reaffirming its commitment to continuing its role in promoting Jordan and capitalizing on international events to enhance its global presence and attract more visitors and tourism investments.
