AMMAN / KARAK
Father Yuhanna Hamati stated, in a comment regarding the incident that occurred on Friday at the church in Karak, that he was inside the building when the attack took place, noting that such acts are foreign to Jordanian society.
Speaking to Rum News Agency, Father Hamati added that Jordanians are unaccustomed to such occurrences in their country, particularly under the prudent and moderate leadership of the Hashemite monarchy—a values-driven school of thought upon which Jordanians were raised. However, he observed that "among the wheat, there lies tares."
"Allah has decreed, and what He willed has happened," Father Hamati remarked, adding that such extremist ideologies exist within the wider region and noting that His Majesty King Abdullah II has repeatedly warned against them, especially in international forums and at the United Nations.
In his message to the families of the victims, Father Hamati prayed that God grant them solace over the loss of their children and loved ones, and ease the suffering of the injured currently recovering in hospitals.
